The Patriots football team battled with grit and determination in a challenging home game opener against a strong visiting opponent, the Davenport Wolves, under the lights at D.W. Rutledge Stadium. Davenport got off to an early lead in the first quarter, scoring a pair of touchdowns on a 26-yard pass and a 2-yard run, making the score 13-0. They extended their lead with another rushing touchdown early in the second quarter. However, the Patriot offense answered back with an incredible play, as quarterback MJ Sparks connected with Erick Pacheco on a spectacular 90-yard touchdown pass. The successful kick by Ben Fink brought the score to 20-7. Davenport responded quickly, adding a 33-yard rushing touchdown and a 24-yard field goal to close out the half with a 30-7 lead. Determined to get momentum in the third quarter, the Patriots continued to fight. The Patriot offense drove down the field, culminating in a 1-yard touchdown run by Keandrius Harrington, bringing the score to 30-13. Davenport, however, maintained their momentum, responding with an 18-yard rushing touchdown. In the final quarter, Davenport added two more scores on a fumble return and a pass to seal the victory. The final score was 51-13 in favor of Davenport. The Patriots next face Burbank on September 4, 2025, at home in the SAISD Sports Complex.
