The Veterans Memorial Patriots took the course this past Friday at the San Antonio Friday Night Lights meet and delivered an impressive performance across all divisions.

In the boys varsity division, Gael Realivazquez and Davien Airhart both broke the 18-minute barrier, with Gael setting a new personal record of 17:49.21. Joshua Peña-Baker also had a breakout race, clocking a PR of 18:55.64.

The boys JV squad placed 20th overall out of 24 teams, led by a strong effort from Diego Realivazquez.

On the girls varsity side, it was a perfect night as every runner set a personal record. Senior Esperanza Peña-Baker led the way with a time of 23:07.33. She was closely followed by freshman Sophia Cordero (23:14.84), sophomore Nela Sitong (23:18.67), and sophomore Morgan Carmony (23:43.50).

In the girls JV race, sophomore Kori Saucedo-Rodriguez set the pace for the Patriots, continuing to grow as a leader for the team.

Next week, the Patriots return to the course at Retama Park for the San Antonio Patriot Invitational.
