On Saturday night at Heroes Stadium, the Veterans Memorial Patriots' defense was just as impressive as their offense, forcing three turnovers en route to a dominant 33-0 shutout victory over the MacArthur Brahmas. The win improved the Patriots' season record to 2-1.
The first quarter was a scoreless battle, with both defenses holding strong. However, the Patriots' offense broke the drought in the second quarter with a 16-yard touchdown pass from MJ Sparks to Antonio Grissom Jr. Trecorrus Jordan Jr. followed with an explosive 66-yard touchdown run, and the Patriots' offense kept rolling when Johnathon Cantu found Erick Pacheco for a 39-yard score.
The Patriots' defense continued to stifle the Brahmas, with Payton Beach's interception on a fake field goal attempt being a highlight. The defensive takeaways, combined with the consistent scoring, including a 36-yard rushing touchdown by Cantu in the third quarter and a 54-yard run by Jordan Jr. in the fourth, sealed the victory.
The Patriots will look to continue their winning ways when they take on Canyon Lake for their homecoming game on Friday, September 19, at D.W. Rutledge Stadium.
