The Veterans Memorial Patriots closed out the opening day of the Harlandale Tournament with a commanding 4-0 victory over the Sam Houston Hurricanes. After a tough morning match, the team showed incredible stamina and focus to secure their first win of the tournament in spectacular fashion. From the opening whistle, the Patriots established total control. The offensive unit kept the Sam Houston defense under constant duress with a flurry of early attacks. While the Hurricanes attempted to mount their own offensive, they were met by a "Patriot Wall"—a defensive line that remained unbreakable throughout the match. The Patriots took a well-deserved lead in the first half when Dylan Hadas found the back of the net, thanks to a perfectly placed assist from Elijah Galloway. The team headed into the locker room at halftime leading 1-0, with all the momentum on their side. The second half saw the Patriots "pepper" the goal with multiple shots, eventually breaking the game wide open with three late goals. Dylan Hadas added his second of the night. Fausto Castro netted a brace (two goals) to seal the win. Excellent playmaking was on display with assists coming from Yerik Gallegos and Jeremiah Galloway. The Patriots continue tournament play tomorrow as they look to build on this momentum and face off against Harlingen.
