The Patriots opened the regular season against Steele at Steele in a non-district game on 3 January 2023. The Patriots found themselves on the back foot from the start as Steele pressed hard offensively to open the game. The Steele offense tested the Patriot defense with multiple chances on goal but the Patriots would hold the line against the pressure. Steele would find the back of the net off of a lucky strike to take the lead. The Patriots would start to find their identity after giving up the goal with some near misses as they pressed the Steele back line. The Patriots went into halftime down 1-0. The second half saw the Patriots start to find their rhythm as they pressed the Steele defense early. The Patriots would have numerous chances on goal but would be unable to capitalize. Steele would rally back to put four more goals on the board to finish out the game. The final was 5-0 in favor of Steele. Dustin Ynman and Jorge Barragan would combine for 18 saves. The Patriots play Harlandale next in the SAISD tournament on 5 January 2023.
