The Patriots took on Canyon on 27 January 2023 at home in the district opener. The Patriots came out playing sharp as they opened the half against Canyon and were able to immediately press the opposing defensive line. The Patriots and Canyon looked evenly matched as the game flowed back and forth. The Patriots maintained pressure on the Canyon defense but could not execute in the final third. Canyon would score midway through the half to give them the lead. The Patriots went into halftime down 1-0. The Patriots and Canyon would battle it out in the second half with each side able to apply pressure on the back line. Canyon would get an early goal to take the lead by two. The Patriots defense would start to feel the pressure as Canyon would be able to mount consistent pressure on the back line. Canyon would score two more times to put the game out reach for the Patriots. The final score was 4-0 in favor of Canyon. Dustin Ynman had 3 saves.
