Veterans Memorial Patriots Varsity Nabs Win Over Judson Despite Early 5-Run Inning

Even though Veterans Memorial Patriots Varsity gave up five runs in the third inning, they still defeated Judson 13-6 on Monday. Judson's big bats were led by Ryan Farias, Eduardo Bustos, and Richard Garza, all knocking in runs in the inning.
The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Veterans Memorial Patriots Varsity collected eight hits and Judson had five.
Veterans Memorial Patriots Varsity pulled away for good with seven runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Sonny Kretzer singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Jalen Garibay tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Deion Jones tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Barrett Bressette singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Jason Cantu was credited with the victory for Veterans Memorial Patriots Varsity. Cantu went two and a third innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one. John Shollenbarger threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Veterans Memorial Patriots Varsity collected eight hits. Deion Jones and Elias Gonzalez each collected two hits to lead the Veterans Memorial Patriots. The Patriots stole six bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Sonny Kretzer led the way with two.
