The Patriots took on Champion on 14 January 2025 in our district home opener at Veterans Memorial. The Patriots came out in the first half playing hard against Champion in a back and forth battle which provided opportunities for both teams. Champion would strike first as they found a seam through the Patriot defense to take the lead. The Patriots continued to work hard and brought the fight back to Champion with multiple scoring opportunities but struggled connecting the finishing touches in the final third. The Patriots went into halftime down 1-0. The second half proved much of the same as both teams battled to find the back of the net. The Patriots continued to play hard as they looked to capitalize on various opportunities that they created. The Patriots defense would find themselves pressed and Champion would continue to probe the line for weaknesses but the Patriot defense would hold true to keep Champion off the board. The Patriots hard work offensively would finally pay off as they found the equalizer late in the game. The Patriots would not let up until the final whistle The final was a 1-1 draw. Manny Pruneda had the lone goal. Chaz Tombarelli had 6 saves. The Patriots next face Alamo Heights at the UTSA Park West Athletic Complex on 17 January 2025.
